Insurance salesman finds sneaky squirrel's stash of 150lbs of nuts in his Chevy Avalanche pickup truck after he returns home from business trip

    • Bill Fischer returned from a work trip in September to find a squirrel had stored 42 gallons of walnuts in his Chevrolet Avalanche
    • The phenomenon has been occurring since 2013, he says, when a red squirrel first identified his pickup truck as an ideal spot to store nuts
    • It happens every other year, when the walnuts on a neighbor's tree reach maturation
    • This year, however, Fischer says the squirrel may have set a record

An insurance salesman returned to his North Dakota home after a four-day business trip in mid-September to find a squirrel had stashed 42 gallons of walnuts in his Chevrolet pickup truck.
Bill Fischer, 56, has been waging a war against his furry neighbor in Fargo since 2013, when he says a red squirrel first chose his Chevy Avalanche as the spot to store its harvest for the winter.
Fischer says he has come to expect the find when his neighbor's black walnut tree reaches maturation every other year, but this time the creature may have outdone itself.

'The squirrel set a record,' Fischer told the Washington Post. 'Most I've ever pulled out was four or five six-gallon buckets. This year was seven.'
In photos he posted to Facebook, the yellow-husked nuts can be seen filling nearly every conceivable crevice on the pickup, from the engine bay to the fenders and bumper.
He even had to remove the bumper and fender panels on the front end of the truck to to get to them all.
All told, he collected around 150 pounds of nuts this year, which he offered to give away for free on Facebook.
He says he believes the squirrel will enter the truck's innards through the rear, move along its frame rail and place the nuts mainly under the hood and in its fender.

Man plunges 100ft from the ninth floor of New Jersey high-rise and somehow SURVIVES

A man plunged 100ft from the ninth floor of a high-rise building in New Jersey and somehow survived the fall after landing on a BMW.

The 31-year-old man, who has not been named, slammed through the roof of the black BMW and was seen in a bloodied state as he crawled from the wreckage in Jersey City on Wednesday morning at around 10.20am.

As he stood up, with shards of glass and the broken car roof surrounding him, the man saw that his right arm was broken and asked witnesses: 'What happened?'

Video footage and images from the scene showed the man, who had jumped from an open window of the ninth floor of the high-rise building at 26 Journal Square, writhing around in pain as he held his broken arm.
